Katy Perry's 'Roar' Music Video Look By Look

Ahh, the official video for "Roar" is here, KatyCats and everyone else in the world! After giving us a taste of what to expect and performing it live for the first time at the VMAs, we have our first video from post-"California Gurls" era Katy Perry. She's traded in her former candyland home for a jungle and she is thriving. Katy undergoes a may-jah transformation in the video, from button-uped plane passenger to tiger taming jungle queen, so we rounded-up all of her looks for you to peruse. Halloween is next month, just sayin'.

KATY DEBUTS HER MAKESHIFT STAFF

Katy has finally embraced her new life: it's hot, she has animal friends, she can eat fruit. What's not to love? No human contact? Meh. Anyway, Katy has ditched her skirt and turned her button-up shirt into a button-up dress with torn off, peekaboo shoulder sleeves. She finished her staff, which is comprised of the heel of her shoe, some bamboo, and her leopard-print scarf.

HOPEFUL SAFARI ATTENDEE WITH A HINT OF JUNGLE FLARE

When we first see Katy, she is escaping a plane crash: she's off to a strong jungle start because she A) survived a plane crash, and B) is dressed for a safari. She has on a khaki skirt, featherweight button-up shirt with bibbed placket, leather belt, and leopard print scarf/ascot on.

SUBTLE SCARF SHIFT SHOWS SHE'S READY FOR THE JUNGLE

In her second look she's already adapting to her jungle life: her beau was eaten by a tiger (RIP) because he was taking way too many selfies in the jungle, but also because he was walking dinner, so Katy has begun to fend for herself. She's accepted that her clothes are dirty and torn and shifted her scarf from her neck to her belt. SO close to loincloth chic. She's still pretty formal for the jungle, but she hasn't been there that long, guys. She's had a bad day: plane crash, boyfriend being eaten, etc.

KATY MAKES HER FIRST JUNGLE FRIEND, A MONKEY

This monkey somehow got a hold of Katy's nude-and-black, ankle-strap stilettos, but since monkeys cannot wear heels, Katy takes it back and fashions it into the end of a spear. Verrrry creative, jungle Katy. You're on your way, bb.

JUNGLE KATY ARRIVES IN FULL-FORCE

Katy's fourth look is a wild (heh) departure from her plane getup. She's clearly been in the jungle for a while: her hair is way longer and she's made herself a skirt of leaves that's also decked out with some flowers. She's also wrangled herself a leopard-print crop top (was it in her luggage? Probz.) and has tied her belt around her arms. The armbands seem to serve no practical purpose, they're merely #jungleaccessories.

THIS ELEPHANT WILL NEVER FORGET YOU PAINTED ITS NAILS

While Katy has mostly focused of her personal adaptation to jungle life, she shifts her focus to the animals and does her elephant pal a solid: paints its huge nails. Katy can't be the only one looking good in the jungle, y'all. Her friends need to keep up, and she's helping them get there.

BOW DOWN TO KATY, QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE

The video's final look is the same as Katy's first full jungle look, but embellished with a crown of orchids. Katy, now dewy and tan, sits atop her leafy jungle throne surrounded by her animal frandz, looking like she totally fits in. You've come a long way since your leopard-print scarf, jungle queen Katy. We're proud of you. Watch the entire thing below to see Katy's transformation from plebe to QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE.
